Elects Board Members and New Officers
At the Downtown Hamilton SID Annual
Meeting in April, the SID Board elected new officers. They are: President,
Tony Traub, CEO, American Business Technologies, 210 S. Second Street; Vice
President, Keith Nott, Manager, Elder Beerman Department Store, High, Front,
Market and Second Sts.; Secretary, Jason Fulmer, Fulmer’s Home Furniture
Store at Second and Court Sts.; and Treasurer, Becky King, First Financial
Bank, downtown office. Board members and representatives are: Tim Bigler,
Director, Department of Economic Development, City of Hamilton; Mark
Brandenburger, City manager, City of Hamilton; Marilyn Collmer, Manager,
BizTech Center; Kenny Craig, President/CEO Greater Hamilton Chamber of
Commerce and Greater Hamilton Economic Development Corporation; Rick Demmel,
Regional President, U.S. Bank; Carla Fiehrer, Owner, Robinson Schwinn
Building; Gerry Hammond, Presbyterian Church; Al Koncius, Koncius
Enterprises; Robert Lowery, Butler County; Phil Morrical, Senior, Morrical
Realty; Gary Richards, Director, ReDiscover Hamilton; Mayor Don Ryan, Ryan’s
Tavern; and George Schmidt, McDonalds’/LEVAJO.
SID President Announces Board Re-organization Plan and Activates
Committees to Continue Maintaining, Beautifying, and Developing Downtown
SID President Tony Traub called his
first SID Board Meeting to order and pledged his commitment and dedication
to continuing the SID’s mission of maintaining, developing, promoting and
beautifying Downtown Hamilton. This is the intent and wishes of the property
owners and we will continue to fulfill this goal Traub emphasized, as he
activated three committees that will guide plans to further the SID’s goals
and objectives. “Leadership from the partnership of property owners, the
City and the County will keep downtown thriving and prospering and we must
all stay involved to insure this mission is achieved.” To keep the SID’s
mission on track, Traub announced an action plan of committee formation to
carry on the SID’s purpose. Committees are: Environmental Services will
contract and supervise outside services for cleaning, power washing, snow
removal, landscaping, city wide clean up projects, and the IMPROVE Program,
Jerry Hammond, Chair, with members Carla Fiehrer, Becky King, Robert Lowery,
Phil Morrical, Sr., Keith Nott, Gary Richards and Tony Traub. Economic
Development will be responsible for managing business recruitment and
retention, promotion and marketing, sponsorship recommendations and special
events. This committee will facilitate the SID’s Web site (www.downtownhamilton.com)
and produce the newsletter, Marilyn Collmer, Chair with members Mark
Brandenburger, Mayor Don Ryan, Tim Bigler, Kenny Craig, Jason Fulmer, |
Phil Morrical, III,
and Tony Traub. The Administrative Committee will oversee all of the
committees within the Downtown Hamilton Special Improvement District and
will have the responsibility for insuring that all finances and daily
operations are managed properly and efficiently. This committee will
facilitate budgeting, review past, present and future financial matters and
projects, and submit reviews and recommendations to the Board, Carla Fiehrer,
Chair, with members Kenny Craig, Rick Demmel, Al Koncius, Robert Lowery,
Phil Morrical, Sr, Keith Nott, and Tony Traub. SID Board Members concurred
that committee formation will expand property owner participation, input and
involvement and increase communication with property owners, government
officials, business leaders and the community. Committees are responsible
for developing a Plan of Action and Budget which will be incorporated into a
Plan of Work and Budget for the year. Committee activation will take the
place of the Director’s position. Board members thanked Doug Ewald for the
work he has provided for the SID and wished him well in his business

A resounding round of applause from
SID board members thanked outgoing SID President George Schmidt for his many
years of service to Downtown Hamilton on behalf of the entire community.
“There is no doubt about it,” said Chamber President and SID board member,
Kenny Craig, “George’s leadership has been instrumental in developing the
partnership of property owners, the City of Hamilton, Butler County and the
Hamilton Community Foundation that has resulted in the beautification,
physical improvements and economic development of downtown Hamilton.”
“George has worked tirelessly leading the way and working behind the scenes
with property owners, community members, the Chamber, business leaders, and
city and county officials to make downtown Hamilton a vibrant center for
Butler County.” From his chairmanship of the former Downtown Merchant’s
Association, to the development and implementation of the streetscape
improvements and the formation of the Downtown Special Improvement District
(SID) for downtown’s maintenance, beautification, marketing, promotion and
economic development he has been a catalyst to make it all happen. George
will continue as a member of the SID board and continue to assist with the
SID’s projects and programs. SID Board Meetings Open to All, New Meeting
Location The SID Board Meetings are open to all and the meetings are held on
the First Wednesday of each month from 8am-9:30am. The new location of the
board meetings will be at the Neighborhood Housing Services of Hamilton, 100
S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., downtown Hamilton next to McDonalds. |
