Downtown Hamilton has a vision for its future that focuses on the variety of available professional office and retail space as well as the existing nearby amenities. With over $70 million of development currently underway in the District, there is clearly an atmosphere of growth and opportunity.
The Government Services Center and One Renaissance Place will add nearly 225,000 square feet of new class A office space. Restoration of the Robinson-Schwenn building, formerly the Globe Opera House, adds 44,000 square feet of combined office and retail opportunities with unique historic character that are already seventy-five percent leased. The renovation of the Anthony Wayne Hotel will be complete within the next eighteen months adding urban residential opportunities for seniors to the mix.
With the long-awaited opening of the Butler Regional Highway, Downtown Hamilton will be easier to reach than ever. This and features such as ample parking along the streets and in convenient garages make location one of Hamilton's strongest assets in attracting and retaining professional offices, service businesses, retail shops, and restaurants.
In this atmosphere of development, the SID offers a unique range of advantages that would be prohibitive or unavailable to individual businesses. Downtown Hamilton is working to create a coherent and recognizable image as both a business solution and a community center. The SID has adopted a visual identity with the name of Downtown Hamilton and a logo. These will be used to aggressively market the SID as a single commercial entity for developers and business interests. Central information resources such as a property database, marketing materials and even our web site offer ways to reach our audience. Services such as litter and snow removal, maintenance of plantings, and special event management for the District add to the overall quality of business life in the SID.
